Object description :

"Old Hamadan Rug, Persian, 134 Cm X 188 Cm, Hand-knotted Wool, Iran, First Part Of The 20th Century"
Beautiful Hamadan rug in hand-knotted wool decorated with three large medallions decorated with flowers and decorated with stylized hooks, on a red ocher field.
This comfortable and impeccable carpet is in very good condition around 1920/1930, the edges, the fringes, the pile are in very good condition.
A beautiful old carpet which is adorned with very pleasant, lively colors (in particular ochres and blues) which have remained fresh over the years.
The quality of the wool used in this region is good because it is silky due to the use sometimes of goat mohair and camel hair.
The use of camel hair makes the rugs softer and lighter.
The range of colors, bright and vivid, used is specific to this region.
# Note the beautiful abrash, change of wool color to two thirds of the rug which brings it a lot of beauty.
The border with continuous patterns takes up the colors of the rug and the four spandrels are adorned with a very beautiful midnight blue.
Hamadan is a city located in western Iran, 300 km west of Tehran.
It is one of the oldest cities in the world and is the ancient Ecbatana referred to in the Book of Esther.
The city is the center of an important trade in carpets produced in the surrounding towns and villages.
The best of them are marketed under their own name, such as Nahavand, Malayer ....
They are easy to recognize thanks to their typical patterns and format.
The patterns are very variable and there are both medallion rugs and rugs with repetitive patterns.
The colors are dominated by various shades of indigo blue, ocher and red.
Antique Hamadan rugs are often very beautiful and eye-catching items.
This rug has been professionally and environmentally cleaned.
