Offering or quest dish. 16th century South Germany (Nuremberg production) In embossed, engraved and stamped brass decorated with the mystical press. This iconographic theme of the mystical press appears in Christian art in the 14th century. It is a representation showing either Christ treading bunches of grapes in a press, or characters leading the grapes to the press. It is this second imagery that we find here.
