"Eller Lucien Roudier Said (1894-1940) Lively Street Of The Old Neighborhoods In Marseille"
Colored and made in a thick and generous material which adds movement and life to this work of the Marseille painter Lucien Roudier dit Eller, a great specialist in scenes of lives and streets of Marseille between the two wars. The work in good condition is offered in a modern black frame, of the American box type which measures 75 cm by 88 cm and 60 cm by 73 cm for the canvas alone. It represents a crowd of characters in a street in the Old Quarters near the Old Port where the artist used to live. The work is signed lower right, and on the back a restoration but totally invisible on the paint side. He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and that of comedians. He is considered the painter of Marseille life after 1914, as evidenced by the book "Marseille sur le Vif" which he illustrated in 1925. He is also an Officer of the Nicham-Iftikar. The General Council of the Bouches du Rhône retains several of his works.
