"Small Cylinder Desk With Gradin, Directoire Period"
Rare tiered cylinder desk in oak with inlaid decoration of alternating fillets and a diamond pattern. It opens with six drawers, a cylinder revealing a sliding top and four drawers underlined with drops. It rests on four sheath legs. The top is in wood with an openwork copper gallery. It is a regional work, from the east of France. Lots of charm and originality in this lovely desk, whose large sliding top makes it compatible with our modern use.....but discovers a hiding place!!!! Its original buffered varnish finish and marquetry work pay tribute to the "king of woods" that is oak, here treated as a precious wood. It is in excellent condition, the flap sheet has been changed.
