"Very Large Pair Of Altar Cruets, France Circa 1850, Sterling Silver, H. Puche"
Exceptionally large pair of altar cruets and their Napoleon III period tray in sterling silver. They are executed in a resolutely baroque style inspired by the religious goldsmithery of the first half of the eighteenth century. They are exceptionally large and rare on the market. Each piece of the set is stamped with the head of Mercure's guarantee hallmark for the first silver talloy (950%) and the master goldsmith hallmark of Hippolyte PUCHE in Paris. Also present, the hallmark V (vreemd) for sterling silver works imported into the Netherlands in the nineteenth century.
