The bust of a smiling woman wearing a scarf is in patinated bronze. George van der Straeten (1856-1928) was a Belgian-born French sculptor. From 1885, he exhibited his works every year at the Paris Salon. He specialized in bronze female busts. Signature: G. van der Straeten; circular casting mark with the coat of arms of Paris and the inscription Société des Bronzes de Paris. Paris, late 19th/early 20th century.
