Chased bronze, gilded. This pair of andirons represents two putti musicians, they each hold a rolled parchment and one of them carries a book (scores?) on his knees. The base of these fires is in a buffet with four lion's feet, a typical design from the beginning of the 18th century. It is a provincial work, indeed the Province often imitated Paris. The drawing is without weakness but the bronze work is simpler, less vigorous. Pretty provincial objects of this kind are rare because they are less preserved than the models of the great makers linked to the Court.
