Large and rare doll from Northern Europe (England, Flanders, France???)
completely articulated and all in wood dating from the 1st half of the 18th century and having preserved its polychromy and its damask silk clothes, damask lace gold and velvet.
a rare and unusual doll in the open market female dolls are more often encountered.
be careful not to confuse it with a large Neapolitan santon or a capipote.
there is no sign or religious accessory and seems rather of the profane domain.
particular care has been taken with the finely sculpted face which has retained its polychromy.
a man's face very nicely treated.
the same care has been given to hands much larger in size than in reality and to boots with gaiters.
note the dimensions of the very large hands giving off a naive character to this doll.
All the joints work, fully pegged, she can sit, stand up and keep her given attitudes.
some small superficial lack of polychromy and a finger on the left hand glued.
Overall in a very good state of preservation considering its age.
