A SEVRES PORCELAIN SHUTTLE BUTTER DISH
FROM THE SERVICE OF KING CHARLES X AT THE CHÂTEAU DE COMPIÈGNE
Shuttle-shaped butter dish in hard-paste porcelain, with polychrome decoration of garlands of blue and pink flowers, supported by a frieze of gold foliage, gold fillets on the edges.
Very good condition.
Sèvres Royal Factory, circa 1824-1825.
Mark with blue stamp dated (18)24(?), mark of gilders Durosey (active 1802-1830) and A(18)23, and mark of the painter Desnoyers-Chaponnet elder (active 1813-1828).
H. 5.5 x W. 27 x D. 12 cm.

Provenance
Starter and dessert service described as "flowers and butterflies", entered at the Sèvres sales store on August 22, 1822 (Arch. Sèvres, Vv1, 183 v°), delivered late on April 15, 1830 to Jules Roux de Rochelle, Extraordinary Envoyé and Minister Plenipotentiary of His Majesty in the United States of America, with in particular 106 flat plates at 15 frs each and 3 shuttle butter dishes at 20 frs each (Vbb8, 14 v°). Previously, some pieces of this service were delivered for the service of King Charles X at the royal castle of Compiègne, on November 6, 1824 (Vbb6, 79): in particular 4 shuttle butter dishes at 20 frs each and 24 soup plates at 14 frs each, with restockings in 1826 and 1827.
