Object description :

"French School Of The Early 19th Century - Architecture After Le Louvre"
Architectural drawing inspired by the ballroom of Henri II at the Louvre.

French school from the beginning of the 19th century.

Pen and brown ink, gray wash on black pencil line.

Presented in an old molded and gilded wood frame.

Henri II's ballroom at the Louvre is also called Salle des Caryatides because of the four female figures sculpted by Jean Goujon in 1550 to support the musicians' gallery, themselves inspired by those found in the Erechteion of Athens.
