"Domed Leather Box With Iron Trim - Period XVII"
Box sheathed in grained black morocco with iron fittings. Mounted on four ball feet, it opens with a domed lid with its stirrup handle. Garnish of frets terminated by finials. The corners are protected by cut-out iron spandrels, heart-shaped keyhole with double independent angled hasp. This combination box opens and closes perfectly in two stages, on one side then on the other, rear key. The interior is sheathed in posterior burgundy red leather. Missing a fret element on the top, visible on a photo. France from the 17th century.
