Object description :

"Mustard Pot, Paris 1787, Louis Joseph Bouty, Vermeil, Sterling Silver"
Lovely mustard pot from the Louis XVI period in sterling silver covered with a thick layer of 24 carat gold of rather recent date which effectively protects it from the negative effects that mustard can have on silver. It is richly decorated with garlands of flowers, laurels and branches of vines. In its center two putti hold a medallion intended to accommodate a heraldic engraving. Its blown blue glass interior is still intact. They bear the charge and discharge hallmarks of the generality of Paris for the year 1787 and the hallmark of the master goldsmith Louis Joseph Bouty. Weight 340 grams.
