MAETERLINCK (Maurice) - Before God. Paris, Charpentier Library, 1937; in-8, 253 pp., paperback, large margins. One of the numbered copies on Holland Van Gelder Zonen (100 numbered copies in all). Maurice Maeterlinck is a Belgian playwright, essayist and poet, born in Ghent, Nobel Prize in 1911. As a poet, he is very influenced by Mallarmé and Symbolism. During the Second World War, he moved to the United States, then to Nice, where he died in 1949; well known for his essays on the life of ants and termites. Very good state.
