"Thierry Michelet XIX (last) : "
Thierry Michelet XIX and last (1958-2013): "Leda and the swan", painting on canvas approximately 200 X 200 cm. This was my favorite and it hung above my bed for years before I moved. Signed and titled couple N° 1 September 15, 82. Chassis stripped in an angle, a tear in the lower right. Trained at the Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, he is part of a neo-expressionist current which finds echoes almost everywhere in Europe: Baselitz, Fetting, Salomé or Penck in Germany, Clemente or Chia in Italy, Garouste or Blais in France or Barcelo in Spain among many others, each finding a different way of expression, but with an obvious relationship, a visceral, strong, often colorful and fast painting, which does not mean sloppy! He had many exhibitions both in France and abroad with works acquired by museums. The works that I present to you today were hunted down more than 30 years ago at the Foire des Quinquonces: I had come to a halt in front of those exhibited on the front of two piles and after a brief negotiation, I bought the together before realizing they didn't fit in my truck! Never mind, the salesman brought them to me at the station and I sent them to my parents via Sernam. The problem being the difficulty of exposure, I abandoned them until these days when I rented a big truck to repatriate them and photograph them before putting them on the Net… I had asked the merchant where he had them from. held and in fact, the Artist having left a room serving him as a workshop "with a wooden bell" (without paying late rents), the owner wishing to rent it back had paid my second-hand dealer to clear it!.. The works date from the early 80s, are more or less square from 186 to 216 cm on each side, simple sheets for some, panels for others, mounted on DIY frames with raw cleats. They bear a “Thierry Michelet Bordeaux” stamp. No postage! Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone.
