Saucier (Saucier)
Porcelain, cm 17 x 24
The precious sauce boat presented here bears decorations typical of the Directoire period, characterized by a sober style with simple and linear shapes. Compared to the previous style of Louis XVI, the forms of this remarkably simplified and soft, although they did not lose elegance and stiffen at the same time. The name of the Directoire Style refers to the government that lasted in France from 1795 to 1799, after the Revolution and before Napoleon's empire.
