Paul and Albert Thouvenin took over an old glassworks (verrerie Vierzon-ville) in 1887 and gave it the name "Verrerie de Vierzon-Les fils d'Adrien Thouvenin". They then lead several workers from the Vallerysthal glassworks in Moselle. From the Vosges, they come from a family of glassmakers. Father Michel-Adrien Thouvenin worked for 20 years at the glassworks of La Rochère, then he managed the glassworks of Vallerysthal and the glass group SA des Verreries Réunis de Vallerysthal and Portieux. From 1877, the son Paul became the director of the Vallerysthal glassworks and his brother Albert, the technical director of the group. They pool their experiences to develop the new Vierzon glassworks, specializing in glassware: plain, cut and engraved, molded and pressed glasses… . In 1891, they produced oil lamps and quality table services. Around 1900, the Thouvenin Brothers made pieces in the Art Nouveau style with plant and animal motifs on multi-layered glass, acid-etched cameo then enamelled with the PThouvenin signature. In 1910, Paul bought the factory which in 1921 became the company Thouvenin & Cie. he ran the glassworks from 1887 to 1919. His son Maurice chaired the factory until it closed in 1957.
