A Magdalene with a full expression of sweetness is represented very young while, a hand on the skull symbol of the brevity of earthly life, she looks at the crucifix in a moment of penance. The protagonist presents herself in a sober way, without exposing her nudity as is customary, but conveys a feeling of great modesty. The author of the canvas manages to give great expressive force to this image with intense faith. The characteristics of the painting, however very particular in the facial features, lead us to situate it in the manner of Emilian painting of the '600. The author is part of the large group of talents gravitating around Guido Reni's studio. The work is perfectly relined and in excellent condition inside an important carved and gilded wooden frame.
