"Djoval Afchar Iran 146 X 139 Cm"
Djoval open afchar Iranian wool, 1920. Good condition, normal wear. Rare. The djovals (large simple bags) were attached to the sides of the donkeys and served, among other things, as fodder bags.
Two techniques used for this djoval: The plain, abraded red part is in kilim and corresponded to the back of the bag. The worked part is in soumak and corresponded to the front of the bag.
On a navy blue background, one can appreciate a multitude of geometric patterns, reminiscent of "göls". A beige border with the motifs of "göls" and "oak leaves" is surrounded by small borders with the motif "running water". A last openwork border, "received" the passers-by in order to close the bag.
