Pio Semeghini (Quistello, January 31, 1878 - Verona, March 11, 1964)
A great master of 20th century Italian art. T
hrough the study of the Italian Old Masters, the Impressionists and the influence of his contemporaries, he developed a unique personal pictorial language that lays bare the pictorial structure of the work, anticipating informal art. He is one of the main artists of the post-war period, appreciated by the public and the critics. Success, awards, accolades and exhibitions followed. In the spring of 1960, he dislocated his humerus and could no longer paint. Semeghini died on March 11, 1964 in Verona.
