Magnificent Louis XV sloping desk, enriched with marquetry of rosewood, kingwood, lemon tree and amaranth. This refined desk has a large drawer in the lower part topped by two small drawers. The facades are in veneer with in the center of rosewood surrounded by a net of lemon tree and a net of wood tinted with green, intertwined. The periphery of each of the facades is in kingwood accompanied by an exterior border in rosewood. The handles and entries of these drawers are in original bronze. The locks are also original, in working order and accompanied by later keys. In the upper part of this elegant piece of furniture, we find a flap made up of a panel in rosewood veneer in the shape of a butterfly wing with in its center an oval marquetry in the shape of a medallion made up of a large tulip surrounded by flowers in light wood. and stained wood. Around the central panel we find a succession of nets of various essences accompanied by a string of alternating squares and angles formed by four triangles. The amaranth and the rosewood are surrounded by kingwood and in the bevel of the rosewood again. The flap is held in the open position by original iron hooks. The surround is in walnut and the center is lined with wine-colored leather with blind stamp, golden vignette and golden central motif. The inner part called the tabernacle is in walnut. We find 4 small drawers with inlaid fronts in rosewood, lemon tree fillet and violet wood, and shaped brass lens buttons with rosette. We also discover a large cache concealed by a sliding part. This magnificent desk rests on four slightly curved legs in rosewood, kingwood and lemon veneer, resting on original bronze shoes. This quality piece of furniture has benefited from the use of precious woods and authentic assembly in the 18th century. It will delight with all its inlaid faces, its details and its luminous colors.
