Matteo Olivero (June 15, 1879 – April 28, 1932) was an Italian painter, known for his technique of reproducing the reflections of sunlight without physically mixing the color pigments. He is also considered one of the main painters of Italian Divisionism.
During his life, he participated in several exhibitions across Europe and began a collaboration with "Les tendencies nouvelles", a Parisian art magazine.
Fatherless since childhood, he was very close to his mother Lucia Rosano. The latter's loss in 1930 plunged Olivero into a deep depression. On April 28, 1932, Olivero committed suicide by jumping out of a window.
A collection of his works is exhibited at the "Pinacotheca Matteo Olivero" in Saluzzo.
