Influenced by the work of the painter Antoine Vollon, he employed a similarly thick impasto with a vigorous brush stroke. During the 1890's Bergeret lived in a small artist's colony in Monmartre, (26 rue Victor Masse) where he stayed until the 1890's.
Bergeret painted still lifes of flowers and fruit and also specialised in still lifes of seafood; oysters, prawns, lobster
In 1900 he was made a Chevalier de la legion d'Honneur.
