Antonin Amédée "Eugène" Battaille was a French painter, born in Granville on April 18, 1817, student of Léon Cogniet, specialized in historical or religious subjects, and known by the copy of the portrait of Marshal Ney by Langlois, the original of which is missing. He stopped all production around 1875 and died in Versailles on March 26, 1882.
