"Marine De Eugène Baboulène"
Exceptional work by Eugène Baboulène entitled "La Marine". This very large work (3.53 m x 1.57 m) deploys magnificent colors. Eugène Louis Baboulène was born in Toulon on August 18, 1905, an emblematic figure of the south of France and major master of the post-war Toulonnaise School. After the School of Fine Arts in Toulon, he took courses in Paris with Pierre Laurent at the National School of Fine Arts, and enrolled at the National School of Decorative Arts. He returned to Toulon in 1931 and made a living from his work as a decorator, which he carried out in particular in brothels and in the city's theatre. He was appointed professor of decoration at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Toulon in 1936. From 1950, Eugène Baboulène is present in all major artistic events. Many exhibitions are dedicated to him in France and abroad (Malmö, London, Oran, Geneva, New York, Berlin, Tokyo, Madrid). He was elected a member of the Académie du Var in 1979. Painter, draftsman and lithographer, he is particularly fond of seascapes, still lifes and Provençal landscapes. The handling of colors, imbued with finesse and delicacy, made the Toulon painter an emblematic figure of the Provençal school.
