MARINGER Lucien (1903-1981) Oil on paper Dimensions of the work 13 x 17 cm Dimensions with frame 21 x 27 cm MARINGER, Lucien (Sampont, 1903 - Libramont, 1981 (Belgium)) Naïve painter, L. Maringer dreamed of to be a postman; he became a railwayman. In 1927, an accident left him disabled and earned him a place as a guard at Libramont station. Marie Howet discovered it in 1934. Maringer was inspired by Ardennes life, mainly festivals and "village comedy". Religious themes also marked his work: Stations of the Cross in the church of Gouvy. Numerous personal exhibitions in Belgium and participation in ensemble fairs, notably the Salon des Indépendants in Paris in 1939.
