"Satsuma Porcelain Soliflore Vase"
This small soliflore vase was made in the 19th century in Satsuma porcelain. This Japanese porcelain was born in the 16th century during the Azuchi-Momoyama period and is still produced today. After being presented at the Universal Exhibition of 1867 in Paris, it became a popular export item to Europe. It designates an ivory-colored porcelain decorated with golden or polychrome designs. Thus, our pot-bellied vase with a long neck presents a decoration of scenes of Japanese daily life in cartridges as well as flowers and friezes.
