"Muller Frères - Glass Lamp On Wrought Iron Foot"
This glass paste lamp was made by the Muller brothers installed in Lunéville as indicated by the signature at the beginning of the 20th century. The globe in orange and blue glass paste rests on an openwork wrought iron foot decorated with stylized floral motifs. Ten in number, the Muller brothers were trained at the Saint Louis lès Bitche crystal factory, then some of them worked for several years at Gallé in Nancy from 1894 to 1897. In 1897, they settled in Croismare, near Lunéville, and start a glass production very close to that of Emile Gallé or the Daum Brothers. They knew how to take advantage of the intense artistic activity of the city and the spectacular enthusiasm for the decorative arts at the beginning of the 20th century and produced original pieces of great sophistication both technically and decoratively. In 1905, two of the Muller Brothers settled in Val Saint Lambert, Belgium, where they worked for three years creating 400 models. They used a technique that had made the success of the Muller factory, fluogravure. The Muller brothers found themselves at the head of an industrial complex in Lunéville Croismare employing nearly 300 people, which collapsed in 1936.
