Democratic Republic of Congo, Kusu people, first half of the 20th century, very pretty statue of power with cranial charge representing a standing man in a hieratic pose reminiscent of the ancestral sculptures of the Hemba. The figure is represented standing on a circular base, legs half-flexed, hands placed on either side of the stomach and a well-defined face with a long striated beard. The Kusu have a sculptural tradition very close to their powerful neighbors Hemba, Songye and Tétéla. Height 44.5 cm (49 cm with its base). Good state of conservation except for slight normal wear and without impact.
