"Pair Of 19th Century Sconces, Empire Style."
This pair of candlesticks is made of patinated bronze and finely enhanced with gilt bronze. The base of the candlesticks is made of two layers of circles in patinated bronze and gilded bronze which give it a robust but refined look. The button and stem of the candelabras are gilded and adorned with neoclassical features. Just below the candle cutter is a bust statue of a woman in patinated bronze inspired by the hairstyle of the 19th century and a bit Directoire. The motif adorning the top of the gilt bronze spout is the acanthus leaf, commonly used in Greek decorative art. Just below the gilt bronze acanthus motif is a band of patinated bronze roses. The lower on the body of the gilt bronze candlesticks, the more you can see, the more harmonious the combination of floral and foliage motifs with the gilt bronze. The pair of directoire style gilt bronze candlesticks shows the classic beauty and minimalism.
