Lot Of Six Roemers Glasses - Crystal Saint-louis - Model: Florence - Period: XXth Century

Magnificent lot consisting of six footed glasses called "Roemers" in cut crystal from the Saint-Louis factory, in Red, Amethyst, Emerald Green, Chartreuse Green, Sky Blue and Cobalt Blue.

“Florence” model, with geometric decoration surmounted by palmettes, bevelled diamonds, stars with a leg with eight chiseled facets, ending in a star-cut foot. It is one of the very beautiful top-of-the-range models from the Saint-Louis crystal factory, created in 1967.

Richly cut, they offer a magnificent shine and a sound of great purity.

Saint-Louis' signature is under the glasses. The famous "Roemers", which means: Rhine wine glasses, are glasses that always come in six assorted colors, because the first examples were Alsace wine glasses representing six different grape varieties. Each color is meant to represent one.

They are made of white crystal, then covered with a layer of color. It is by cutting them that we find the primary layer of transparent crystal, to sublimate the contrast between the deep colors and the magical sparkle of the crystal.

These glasses, model "Florence" show all the display of the know-how of the Saint-Louis crystal factory.
Hours of work, to achieve this alchemy between the different sizes, from the flat rib to the braces or even the palmettes, without forgetting the jeweled side.
