Painter of landscapes, he was in 1933 , winner of the prize of the Friendly Association of French Landscapers. It is from his master Emile Dameron that he inherited his taste for anecdotal landscapes which he brings to life with crowds of peasants, fishermen and boats, rocky coasts and processions, seascapes and scenes of Breton life. It is the whole repertoire of Breton life that feeds his work, endowed with a well-assured technique. He moved to Concarneau in 1912, where he remained for part of the year from 1919. Having a shop on the Quai Péneroff, he was the privileged witness to the bustle of the port, which he never tired of painting and therefore becomes a member of the Concarneau group. A friend of the painter Arthur Midy, Barnoin regularly went to paint at Le Faoüet where the lively halls gave him many subjects of inspiration. He became official painter of the Navy in 1926 In 2006 the Museum of Faoüet devotes an important exhibition to him.
