Pierrot
Pierrot is a character from the Comédia dell'Arte , he is dreamy and naive .
Often , in the Comédia dell'Arte , he is Arlequin's rival alongside Francisquine or Zerbinette .
Following his appearance in 1547, this comic character was revived in France by Giuseppe Giraton in 1673 , and at that time he naturalized there , so to speak , under the name of " Pierrot ", which Molière had given to the peasant of his " Don Juan " .
From the Italian Comedy , he moved on to the Théâtre de la Foire and the Opéra Comique .
He is the unhappy lover of " Columbine " .
Sometimes cowardly , sometimes boastful , he likes to play tricks and antics .
Jean Garnier (1853 - 1910)
Born in Mouzeuil (Vendée) on March 24, 1853, J. Garnier is a sculptor, enameller and engraver. This artist regularly participates in the Salon from 1883 to 1905 with, in particular, statuettes in different materials: "Singing Nymph" (terracotta, 1892), "Reverie" (plaster in 1893, marble the following year), "Oh! The frog" (wax, 1894), “Victorious Amazon” (bronze, 1896), “Le Corail” (tin, 1897), “Gladiateur” (plaster, 1905). Also noteworthy, in the chapter on bronzes, is “Amazon combatant” (statue exhibited in 1892).
