Oil on canvas 18th century Dim without frame 41/30 Dim with frame 55/43 Flemish School Follower of Jan van Bloemenn Jan van Bloemenn born in Antwerp in 1662, died in Rome in 1749 was a Flemish painter of the Baroque period best known for his landscape compositions. Our painting represents an imaginary view of the Italian countryside in the vicinity of Rome where the painter stayed all his life. The painting is very fine, the trees and the foliage are painted in a delicate way, the composition is typical of the time, a gap in the foliage which draws the eye to a ruin and a luminous sky.
