"A Pair Of 19th Century Candelabra"
These antique candelabra are a wonderful combination of three contrasting tones: the golden color of the gilding, the black color of the bronze which makes the figure of the angel a central point and the dark green color of the malachite brings high aesthetic characteristics to the end. The bases of the candelabras have a rectangular shape which provides a solid base. The gilded bronze motifs inlaid on the rectangular bases are reminiscent of Art Nouveau. Art Nouveau is famous for its flowery and asymmetrical waves inspired by nature such as flowers, plants, with soft curves such as semicircles, parabolas or arcs, which also resemble the style of Louis Philippe; king of France after the revolution of 1830. Floral image in gilded bronze on a rectangular malachite base with acanthus leaf motif. Multi-petalled flowers are intricately intertwined in acanthus patterns, bringing the look of nature. Above the rectangular base is a foliated cast iron plinth with a domed top and a fine statue of a winged woman on it. The goddess-like figure is in patinated bronze with a laurel wreath on the head in shiny gilt gold. This small detail highlights the woman's face and helps the viewer to observe closely the anthemia pattern on the Corinthian column leading to the 7 candles above. This Louis Philippe style 7-light chandelier brings a unique beauty to the classic designs often prized in the decorative arts
