Pair of bronze sculptures representing two duellists , by sculptor Emile Guillemin (1841-1907) .
Double patina, silver and gold.
The duelists are wearing their traditional costumes, and are armed with their swords.
Sculptor's signature "E . Guillemin" on the circular base , richly chased .
Pair of antique sculptures , second half of the XIXth century .
Very good condition and patina .

Emile Guillemin (1841 - 1907)

Emile - Coriolan Guillemin , born in Paris on November 16 , 1841 and died in the same city in 1907 , is a French sculptor .
Emile - Coriolan Guillemin was a pupil of his father , Auguste Marie Guillemin and Jules Salmson .
He exhibited at the Salon from 1870 until 1899 .
He obtained an honorable mention in 1892 .
E.Guillemin is known for pushing to the extreme a realism served , in his bronzes in particular , by a remarkable quality of carving .
