"Virgin And Child By Pierre d'Avesn"
Statuette of the Virgin Mary and the child Jesus in opalescent white pressed molded glass. Signed "P D'AVESN Made in France" (difficult to read through a photo). Pierre Girre or Pierre d'Avesn was a pupil of François Decorchement at the School of Decorative Arts. He was hired at Lalique where he remained for 10 years then at Daum between 1930 and 1936, he developed the production of molded pressed glass in the production department signed Lorrain Nancy. He joined the Verlys company in 1937 in the Hollophane glass department at the Andelys glassworks. After 1945 we find him at the Cristallerie de Choisy le Roi where he reissues old of his models and creates new ones. He remained there until his retirement in 1984.
