"Large Silver Centerpiece , Wolfers, Brussels, 1880-1910"
Sumptuous jardinière or Louis XVI style centerpiece in solid silver with its brass interior. It was made in the workshops of the famous jeweller and goldsmith Wolfers, at the end of the nineteenth century or the beginning of the twentieth century. The Belgian national art and history museums recently dedicated an entire room to the production of this prestigious line of goldsmiths, jewelers and artists. It is entirely hand chased and for its decorations its creator has drawn on all the neoclassical registers. Large bows, crossed reeds and ribbons, garlands of roses, openwork grids, they are all there. Its large size allows several uses, either stung flowers, plants with roots, or fruits. The frame weighs 1500 grams without the brass interior.
