A pair of paintings with beauties as allegories of painting and literature were executed at the end of the 19th century by the famous Austrian genre salon painter Max Levis (born 1863 in Hamburg). Student of the Academy of Karlsruhe by Th.Peckh and Ferdinand Keller, then studies in Munich by J.Herterich and LLöfftz, since 1888 lives and works in Vienna.
