XVIIth cty European colonial work (Portuguse)
The table front facade opens with 3 large drawers, while the identical back facade has 3 false drawers, and the 2 sides 2 false drawers each.
This table was originally designed and built to be transported and disassembles very easily into 5 parts:
* the 2 side uprights each comprising 2 turned legs with 2 large balls in solid rosewood, a twisted low crosspiece and a high crosspiece supporting the top
* the 2 low lengthwise wooden crosspieces turned into spirals (with a double movement meeting in the center)
*and finally the double top accommodating the drawers. The assembly is simply joined by iron and brass tie rods ensuring perfect cohesion. (Note that for each of the uprights missed a false brass termination to be used for tightening the screws; check photos)
Please note the set of finely perforated and carved brass plates on the drawers and false drawers, and more on each angle of feet ( they are all present)
Condition: very beautiful patina !
I specify that the table was not varnished but was just waxed and bricked. Turned very large wooden parts are naturally very shiny and the top, likewise, is... a real mirror!
