"Rare Cross Of Crossroads In Wrought Iron, Epoque XVIII Eme"
Magnificent wrought iron crossroads, worked in fleur-de-lys at its ends, 18th century. At the time of the Roman roads, the junction points of paths and roads were frequently marked by altars or places of devotion most often dedicated to Mercury. The crossroads/intersection of roads has been a place considered disturbing since Antiquity because it is destined to attract the presence of invisible forces. The arrival of Christianity changed these places and little by little the places of pagan worship gave way to crossroads, the new worship gradually replacing the old. Our cross is in a magnificent state of conservation, very beautiful work in fleur-de-lis. It is presented sealed in a stone. A thick fabric has been glued under the latter. Dimensions stone base: about 18 x 20cm
