The first Biedermeier portrait miniature on ivory with a young woman and a landscape in the background was executed ca. 1820s by the listed miniaturist (source: lexicons of Benezit; Thieme/Becker) Renard, who worked in France and Berlin in the years 1810-1830.
Inscription: signed lower right.
Technique: Gouache on ivory. Period gilt bronze frame.
Dimensions: unframed 7.2 x 8.7 cm, framed 8.2 x 9.6 cm.
