A fine pair of family portraits of children were executed ca. in the 1850s by Héloïse Susanne Colin, a well-listed French genre painter of miniatures and watercolourist, in marrige Leloir (1820 - Paris - 1873). She was the daughter of history painter Alexandre-Marie Colin and the mother of painter-illustrator Maurice Leloir. Héloïse Colin married the painter Jean-Auguste Leloir in 1842.

Inscription: each signed lower left, twice signed on the original mat.
