"Snuffbox For Tobacco Of Notable..."
Beautiful anthropomorphic snuff box carved in boxwood to preserve the precious tobacco, from the first half of the 19th century. This pocket box represents a bearded man with deep eyes (small glass beads for the eyes) richly dressed. The character wears a hat and a long pleated coat as well as a waistcoat, the buttons are made of encrusted mother-of-pearl pieces. The box opens on the back by a hinge, a small visible lack (indicated by an arrow on a detail photo) which does not interfere with opening or closing. This box can stand correctly on two small feet, the notable's feet of course... Beautiful patina, no restoration. Note: attention to detail in the garment. Delivery: €10 for metropolitan France.
