KELLIN (Nicolas-Joseph). [Watercolor with gouache highlights, signed]. Dimensions (at sight): 226 x 153 mm + mat + frame. Delicate watercolor signed [Nicolas-Joseph-Kellin in the lower right margin and dated 1856. It depicts an animated view of a street in Chartres. In the background stand the spiers of the Cathedral. ''Born around 1789, Kellin died in Samer in 1858. A pupil of Roqueplan and Bonnington, he exhibited at the Salon between 1833 and 1842''. (in Bénézit). Bénézit VI, Dictionary of painters, p. 188.
