Bronze sculpture with brown and green patina representing General COLSON (died in combat in August 1870).
This is an old edition bronze from the 19th century, it is assembled in several parts with a bronze peg mount.
Signed MARQUESTE on the terrace.
It could be a project of the statue which was in Saint Aubains sur Aines (Marne) it was melted by the German army in 1940.
Good general condition, note that one end of the sword is missing and deformations on the terrace which do not affect its stability.
Laurent Honoré MARQUESTE French sculptor born in Toule in 1848 died in Paris in 1920. Laurent MARQUESTE receives the gold medal of the Universal Exhibition of Paris of 1889 and the grand prize of the Universal Exhibition of 1900.
