Large Dragon, Bronze, China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) flag

Object description :

"Large Dragon, Bronze, China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912)"
The imposing patinated bronze dragon. The dynamic figure stands on one leg on the base. The dragon is a very important symbol in East Asia and, contrary to European perception, it is a positive symbol, associated with peace and fertility. With the phoenix, the unicorn and the tortoise, it forms the "sacred square" of animals and is the object of particular veneration. The Far Eastern dragon is associated with the water element, and in paintings it often emerges from waves or clouds. Since the Chinese Han dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD), it has also been associated with the person of the emperor. China, Qing dynasty (1644-1912) Height 74 cm, diameter 22 cm. Good condition as seen in the photos, however the base has a curve, one of the dragon's legs is broken, in the other a finger is broken. Free delivery in EU. !
