"Kusu Fetish Statue, Drc"
Statue depicting a male figure standing on a circular base (missing), hands resting on the abdomen around the navel. The heart-shaped face is enhanced by brass studded eyes. The head is surmounted by a summit load composed of agglomerate in which two iron nails are driven. The character still retains his brass or bronze necklace.
Very beautiful and rare fetish from the Kusu people, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Blackened wood with patina of use, brass, sacrificial agglomerate iron, old lack.
Mid 20th century or earlier.
