"Important Fireback Dated 1691 Marked Ip (119x105 Cm)"
Fireback dated 1691, from the 17th century, found in Haute-Saône at Vyans-le-Val. This plate presents a temple surmounted by a covered vase between two turned columns. A cross of St Andrew in its center, probably as a sign of protection of the house, is surrounded by a semé of six flowers and three draped heads, four identical heads are distributed at the top of the plate. Eight twisted bunches of grapes complete its decoration. These clusters are also present on two other listed plaques, one in the museum of Besançon of the same invoice and of the same date and the other in the museum of Langres. These three plates, with a similar frame, therefore had to be melted in the same forge.
