Dimensions: h.40 cm x l.24 cm Our incense burner that we present is richly carved with garlands of flowers on the body of the vase, as well as on the handles. It is animated by a couple of figures on the base and two others on the lower part of the two handles. The colors used are shades of brown, yellow and green. The cover pierced with holes and decorated with a hunting dog. History: Earthenware from the Pays d'Apt developed from the 18th century in the Pays d'Apt. Its production is linked to the abundance of its clays and ocher soils. The reputation of Apt earthenware is due to the technique of mixed or marbled colored earths which make up a design throughout the thickness of the paste. Added to this is a Baroque style, where ewers, perfume burners and cups are enhanced with monochrome decorations of foliage, fruit and small Louis XVI-inspired figurines.
