"Pastel Signed Virginia Mariani - 1871"
A painter in Rome, Virginia Mariani (1824-1898) was a recognized portrait painter in her time. She excels in the technique of pastel and watercolor. It was in 1871 that she executed this portrait (her daughter?). Signed and dated lower right. The initial format is an oval, fold at the bottom. Note the high quality fruit wood frame. Minor accidents and wear from use. Frame / 70 x 80
